Feeling Ready

This will be a brief entry, because I'm writing while DH is glaring at me to get off the computer so we can make dinner and watch The Man in the High Castle (such an exciting life we lead!) but I just wanted to drop in with a quick note! I rode Cinna last night (okay well it's tonight but I'm scheduling this for tomorrow so forgive any issues with tenses) and she was EXCELLENT.
As in, didn't put a foot wrong (okay well crowhopped once at the canter but that's all) and we even ran through our tests for Saturday -- and there is no canter in our tests so we should eliminate the possibility of crowhopping haha. When I was tacking up one of my friends messaged me asked me how I felt about the show this weekend, and I told her I didn't want to answer until after our ride -- jury's in kids, I feel GREAT. Even if I don't get any of the same behavior in the show ring, the fact that I could pull her out of the field after so much time off and so few rides this spring means a ton. She is like a sponge, and she retains everything from ride to ride. She was halting and doing downward transitions entirely based off of my seat last night, which is something we obviously haven't worked on much with less than 20 rides.

I don't have time to go through all the photos from this ride, so expect those (and a show recap!) sometime next week. But man.... I LOVE this horse!

    1. Thanks! Obviously this was a particularly good moment, she certainly has bad ones too, haha. But she's a good egg, overall, and she tries very hard!

  5. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. You'll do well at the show even if she doesn't ride the same.

Also, I can't wait to put Aria in a bunch of teal stuff (it's her 'color'). Need to get that beautiful cutback saddle pad you have.

    1. She ended up being a little less adult than I hoped at the show (haha) but it was still a great experience! And I have high hopes for more events this year!
