Back to It

With all the excitement on Saturday, I didn't get any riding done, so I was determined to put in some solid works on Sunday, and I was mostly successful! I grabbed Ruby first, and we worked for a while at the trot while I tried to replicate what I'd gotten at our lesson Friday, with middling success. I did make the mistake of asking for a canter midway through in an attempt to burn some energy and she gave it her very best shot at running away with me (in a not-huge, enclosed arena, so you know.... it didn't work well). Sometimes cantering early on sort of fries her brain but I was able to get it back and still wrap up with some nice work, so that was great! We have another lesson scheduled for Sunday and I can't wait!

Bopping around to warm up.

Lots of shades of blue that day!

I was on the fence about riding Cinna - I still hadn't gotten her discharge paperwork with any additional instructions (aside from soak her grain and give her antibiotics), so I figured a short, walk-only ride couldn't hurt. I thought that might be more successful than trying to keep her at a walk on the lunge line, and I was only partially right. There was lots of jigging, and at about the 13 minutes mark I did cave and let her trot two whole circles (one each direction), and then made her go back to the walk, which she thought was V V BORING.

But we all survived and everyone had nice hose downs and then got settled back into their stalls in front of fans before the heat of the day. Then DH kidnapped me for the rest of the day and dragged me to an estate sale to look at a boat. The long and the short of it is, we've been looking to replace our boat with something larger and a little more comfortable for over a year now - last summer we actually got pre-approved for a small loan and were looking in earnest, and then we ended up needing to buy a new (to us) truck instead, so the boat dreams got shelved. We've been window shopping again this summer, but for something we could afford without a loan. We actually had made plans to look at a boat Saturday evening, and the guy sold it out from under us with no notice when we had already driven to Jeff City to see it, so that was.... annoying. DH spent some time rage-Facebooking to see if there were any other likely prospects we could look at last weekend, and this was the winner. Didn't seem like a winner when we went to check it out -- nobody could get it started, lol. DH tinkered with it for a while and got it running, and then gave them an offer based on the fact that it was going to need some mechanic work (you know, evidenced by the fact that no one else could get it RUNNING). They accepted our offer, so now we have a second boat! As soon as this one is up and running reliably (hopefully within the next week or two), our old boat will be on the market -- and hopefully recoup about 2/3 of the cost of this boat, lol.

The seller didn't clean out any of the compartments, we got so many treasures 🤣

Ski pole!

Opening up the Bimini

Testing out the view from the driver's seat

Made space for it under cover - DH had to admit that maaaaaybe has has too many toys and needs to downsize 🙃

  1. Okay, so that's REALLY annoying that they didn't cancel your appointment after selling the boat! Sheesh. Glad you guys found something though! Hope it's up and running soon!
Glad the ponies were good girls!

    1. He would agree with you, lol. I'd prefer he sold the two unnecessary boats and collected less toys ;) haha.

  3. Glad you got a deal on one! I had that same thing happen when I was trailer shopping... drove 1.5 hours to find out it had sold that morning.

    1. It's so frustrating that common courtesy is becoming about as rare as common sense!

  4. That happened to Bryan a few weeks ago as well - thank goodness he didn't drive down to Houston to look at it. Last week we finally got the boat out of the driveway, put it in storage, and then took it out this weekend. I am burned to a crisp

    1. Nothing quite like that "burned to a crisp after a boat day" feeling!

  5. Ah yes, rage-Facebooking... I know it well lol! Glad that Cinna felt good and spicy, and looking forward to reading about your adventures on the new boat.

    1. I could have shortened it to rage-booking, second only in entertainment to vague-booking 🤣🤣
