Just Doing My Civic Duty Sir

I really have no explanation for the fact that every time I vote, this GIF replays in my head the whole time (SO I WAS OBSESSED WITH POTC OKAY).... but not that ANYONE needs the reminder.... GO VOTE! Missouri has the distinction of being only of only 6 states that doesn't offer early voting (although there was a suspicious amount of push towards in-person absentee voting which has never been pushed like this in my YEARS of voting but I digress). I flexed my lunch to run up at 11 am and my polling place was empty, but I was voter number 283 -- they normally average 300 max in a presidential election, so the fact that there were still 8 hours to go and they almost maxed out the usual amount of voters made me INEXPLICABLY HAPPY.

Pearls for RBG. I don't feel like I need to explain the cup.

The horses even got in on some photos for the voting contest being cohosted by the $900 FB pony. They were being feral when I tried to take a selfie so I busted out the Pivo. A lot of outtakes, but this one turned out reasonably well, even if you can't really see my "I Voted!" sticker :)

  1. Good job! Hope it goes the way you want! Even us Canadians are biting our nails waiting to see which way it goes!

    1. I mean what I really want is an end to the two party system and candidates I actually feel good about voting for, but apparently that's too much to ask 🥴 ughhhhhhh. Not excited to exist in a low-key state of existential dread until they finish counting ballots!

  2. Voter turnout this year was insanely high and I truly believe if we got rid of the electoral college more people would turn out because the lone blue in red states and the lone red in blue states would feel their votes matter for once.

    1. I have mixed feelings about doing away with the electoral college -- I saw a lot of graphs last week that land doesn't vote, people do, and that is true. However, as someone who currently lives in a rural area, I understand the system of checks and balances is important to make sure those in cities aren't imposing rules on the rest of us just because there are more of them to vote. This article was pretty interesting (https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2019/05/23/killing-electoral-college-means-rural-americans-would-be-serfs-column/3770424002/). I found the concept of the states that split their electoral votes to be pretty interesting!
