Oh God What Now

The universe seems determined to keep throwing me curveballs - yesterday afternoon I got a call from the show secretary and they were able to fit me in a test of choice class once each day, so I'll be showing after all!
"Helping" me while I work

The next curveball is that DH has been struggling with a rapidly deteriorating herniated disc situation - he has a steroid shot scheduled for tomorrow and surgery tentatively scheduled for the following Wednesday....you know..... 36 hours before I need to leave for the show 🙈 and he won't be able to do any of the chores the weekend of the show, so it looks like I'll be commuting back and forth which is... Less than ideal. Oh well. It is what it is, right? I'm just so glad his surgeon is taking it seriously, he has been in such excruciating pain it's hard to watch, since I can't help at all.

Anyway. We've also been getting some much needed rain, which is fantastic! Except it's been raining every morning I have time I ride 🙈 so. Also I had an annual exam last week for the first time in, idk, 7 years? (My horse has a chiropractor but I don't see a doctor 😏) and my doctor started me on some meds that leave me perpetually exhausted - hoping that situation stabilizes before the show! Clearly things are going well here 🙃 wish us luck!

  2. That's exciting about the show! I am sorry to hear your DH has been in such excruciating pain, but here's hoping he is on the mend after surgery. Re: the meds, I recently switched meds and I would say I felt better after the first 1 to 2 weeks. Not sure if this is an option with the med you're on, but taking meds at night that make me tired works better than taking them in the morning (the med I just started can be taken anytime), but my thyroid medication has to be taken first thing in the morning. Getting old is really just a delicate balance of figuring out what meds can be taken when. LOL

    1. Haha right? I do take it at night (one is for insomnia so not much of a choice there lol) so I'm hoping it's just a matter of making it though an adjustment period 🤞

  3. Oh wow, that's a lot going on! My DH had two spine surgeries - one in his lumbar spine that helped a ton and one in his cervical spine that didn't help much. Here's hoping DH's goes like my husband's first!

    1. He has his first back surgery 13 years ago to remove herniated pieces at L4/L5 and it gave him almost complete quality of life back, so we're hoping this one is similar 😬🤞 I know it's not cervical, this one will be lower again but I can't remember where exactly in the spine it was - he just has the MRI like a week ago so not a ton of time to wrap out brains around it before it got so bad it's keeping him from sleeping 🙈

  5. It wouldn’t be life if things didn’t happen all at once! Good to you and to DH

  6. Oh goodness... I hope things calm down for you and you can just enjoy the show for crying out loud! (But also glad hubs is getting fixed up soon. Back pain is terrible.)
Maybe there's a nice college kid around that could help with chores while you're showing?

    1. There probably is but I don't have any good leads right now and really no time to train someone or write instructions 🙈 my mom has farmsat for us before she just refuses to stall the horses so I guess they'll have to live out in the back pasture and be feral for the weekend, sigh.
