WW: Rainbow Bridge

We lost our best boy, Rufus York, this morning. I'm sure the many, many dogs I've loved and lost greeted him at the Rainbow Bridge, including his daughter Snickers.

Back in his "well-padded" days.

"Helping" my friend with work

Letting the students dress him up at one of his many vet appointments

Last Sunday night, just an average photo of his favorite place - at the bottom of a pile of dachshunds.
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan."

  2. So very sorry for your loss. He was both dashing and adorable. What a long and wonderful life he led, though I am sure that is of little comfort right now...

    1. He was a very dapper little dapple. He did have a long and wonderful life -- before living with us, he was with a breeder and sired lots of puppies, then got to live the high life "retired" with us. It is actually very comforting and I try to focus on that when I am sad.

Perfect poem for those of us that make our families with the furry/feathered and four legged.
