Birthday Girl

Yesterday was Ruby's 6th birthday. Yes, I know, I typically go by the generally accepted Jan. 1 date for most of my horses, but hers is actually January 2 so it's easy for me to remember, haha. Facebook "On This Day" reminded me, so I made sure to give her a special birthday candy cane and snap some pictures.

This photo is from her 4th birthday. Clearly things haven't changed much... haha

Hard to believe she's been in my life almost five years! Although I purchased her as a long weanling in late 2011, she didn't arrive until a few months later (in February of 2012).
Because this is never not funny -- baby Ruby.
Slightly more grown up Ruby :)
Do you celebrate your horse's real birthday as opposed to Jan. 1? Do you know what it is? (Disclaimer: I know Ruby's and Cinna's by heart, but not the rest of my horses, would have to look at papers to be sure!).

  1. I have no idea when Stinker's birthday is so I don't worry about it. He is going to be 8 but still acts like a 2/3 year old...

    1. You'll appreciate that when he's like 30 and still acting like a teenager! 😉

    1. Ruby says thank you! She got to stuff her face on a round bale all day, special candy canes, and didn't have to work -- so probably an A+ day in her world haha

  3. I know William's because it's pretty hard to forget that he was born on a leap day :) I also know Sullivan's because I was there and he shares a birthday with a good friend. The rest I have no idea.

    1. Oooh, a leap day baby, how fun!
I will never forget Cinna's since I was there 😁 and incidentally, she shares a birthday with my grandma, which will be bittersweet this year.

    1. Aww thank you! I have no idea what she is owed a massage for but she adores you and your magic hands, so I'm sure we'll find time somewhere 😍 we need to go trail riding ASAP, surely hunting season is over by now?? Haha

  5. I don't like to admit that Mort is technically 8 and we're still struggling with canter transitions (and a million other things that ponies who are 8 shouldn't fuss about). Lol, other than that I'm just a bad horse mom who doesn't do anything fun for my horse's birthday.

  7. I celebrate on their birthdays. Except that I forget Irish's and am too lazy to get out the papers. So instead I Know that's it's may so I go with May 21. He doesn't seem to mind. :)

    1. I hadn't thought about that with the mustangs. Do you celebrate the day you adopted them? Or just go with Jan. 1? Or not do anything? Haha
